The machine has a powerful 19 bars of pressure that extracts the maximum flavor from the Nespresso capsules. It features a 1L (34 ounce) water reservoir, which is removable for easy refilling.

The machine supports both larger and smaller cup sizes thanks to a folding drip tray, which is handy.

Talking about the capsules, these are pretty much what either puts people off the Nespresso range, or what makes it their prime choice, depending on the person. Saeco Aroma Espresso Machine Features

As with most espresso machines in this price range, the Saeco Aroma features a 15-bar pump and a stainless steel boiler. You have an exclusive Pannarello device for milk frothing to go with the standard steam and hot water wand.

Other standard features include a streamlined backlit control panel, drip tray (removable), a convenient 85-ounce removable water reservoir and a cup warmer. The pressurized portafilter can accommodate both coffee grinds and E.S.E pods thanks to a pod adapter. With 950W of power, this should be a speedy little machine.

Saeco Aroma Review

This is a fairly compact machine that will fit in almost anywhere. Not quite as small as the more basic DeLonghi EC155, but even if you’re low on counter space you should still be fine. It’s not the most exciting machine to look at, being fairly simple in design, but you won’t feel the need to cover it up when not in use either.

To steam milk with the Saeco Aroma, all you need to do is insert the pannerello into your pitcher of milk and open the steam wand. The wand is swivel mounted, which makes it easier to use. Unfortunately, you may have a hard time getting larger pitchers inserted under the wand. This is a small machine and that is one of the prices you pay. To combat this, stick to a small pitcher or try to elevate the machine.

We like that the machine has both a stainless steel boiler and stainless steel frame. This gives a sturdiness and a quality feel to it, more so than most machines in this price range.

The pressurized portafilter makes is fairly easy to get a decent espresso out of the machine. Now, this may not be for everyone, and if you want really high quality results you may need to purchase a non-pressurized portafilter, which you can use with your own fresh coffee grinds. For most people though, the pressurized portafilter will be fine and produces decent crema and great tasting espresso. It also makes the machine extremely easy to use.

The cup warmer is a nice touch, but this machine heats up so fast that your coffee is done before the cup warmer is properly heated up. When it comes to fast coffee or a warm cup, fast coffee wins every time for me, and the Saeco delivers just that. Just run boiling water into your cup to heat it prior to pouring your shot. Allow about 2 minutes for the machine to be ready to brew from when you switch it on.

Summary

The Saeco Aroma Espresso Machine is an impressive piece of equipment with a quality feel about it. Usually selling close to the $300 mark, we’ve located it at Amazon for under $200 at the time of this writing. That makes it a very attractive option indeed. It lacks decent water temperature control and the frothing wand can be uncomfortable to use, but the ease with which it produces good espresso shots and the solid construction more than makes up for it.

Highly recommended if you can find it in the $200 price range. If you find the Aroma’s price closer to $300 you may want to consider the Delonghi EC702 instead.

One Touch Features

The first feature we just had to try out was the One-Touch Cappuccino System. Yep, you don’t even need to move the cup. No messing around with a little cup under a milk frother. The Impressa Z5 has a dual nozzle system, with one outlet dispensing the coffee and the other the milk. Another great addition to the nozzle system are the two extensions. There’s a long one if you prefer to use a wide cappuccino cup, and a short one for those who prefer a nice tall latte glass. This is the easiest cappuccino or latte you’ll ever make, and it comes out beautifully.

These are the type of features that set a super automatic machine in this price range apart from cheaper machines. Another feature that latte/cappuccino fans will adore is the stainless steel milk container, which can keep milk cold for as long as 8 hours. That means that the machine is ready to produce a frothy drink for you anytime during the day without you having to hunt for milk in the fridge every time you feel like having a latte.

Buttons and a rotary dial allow you to choose the drink you want and make it to perfection. The buttons choose the drink, while the dial can override the ultimate strength of the drink with 5 settings, ranging from extra mild to extra strong. The fact that you can re-program the buttons adds even more versatility to the machine, and once you’ve programmed it to your liking you can create your favorite drink exactly like you want it by simply pressing the right button.

Noise

As far as noise levels are concerned, this is a very quiet machine (quiet being relative, of course, as no coffee machine will ever be whisper quiet), especially when taking into account everything it has to do before the coffee runs into your cup. We would happily have lived with a fair level of noise for the push button ease of the machine, but even here the Jura Impressa Z5 justifies its price tag by being as subtle as you can expect it to be.

Cleaning and maintenance is a key part of keeping your espresso machine running for longer. The machine has an indicator that lets you know when it is time to run the simple automated tablet cleaning program. You don’t need to remove any parts from the machine to perform this clean, making the maintenance of your Z5 that much easier.

It is hard to fault the Jura-Capresso Impressa Z5. Yes, it is expensive, but in customer reviews of this product phrases like “worth every penny” and “pricey but well worth it” pop up all the time. In our opinion, you can pay a lot more, but you’ll have a hard time finding a better, more well thought out super automatic espresso machine than the Z5. In all the runs we gave it, through the various presets and the one touch cappuccino function, the machine produced one cup of divine hot beverage after the other without fail. And with divine we mean just that…the drinks this machine produces are rich and tasty.

One slight complaint may be that the foam produced by the one touch cappuccino system is not always perfect. You have to balance this against the one-touch convenience, which is the major draw of a super automatic machine.

To get the most out of this machine you will need to spend some time learning how it works and program the buttons for your own unique needs, but this is to be expected. Once you’ve done that, you are in true one touch coffee heaven.

The machine comes with a 2 year/6,000 cup warranty. Not only does Jura customer service have a very good reputation, but the machines are also known for their reliability. This is as close to the perfect super automatic espresso machine as you can hope to get.
